Just in time for the 4th of July, we made these limited-edition Wicked Weed Cider Bratwurst sausages. They are packed to the brim with delicious and juicy flavor. Get this farm-store exclusive, limited-edition yumminess on sale this week while you can!
Our specialty brats carry a hint of spiciness from black pepper. That’s just a touch more spice than our plain bratwurst. We harmonize the blend with nutmeg and marjoram, along with other herbs and spices. Wicked Weed crafts their cider with Gala, Granny Smith, and Stamen apples. Next, they ferment it with Brett yeast from the skin of local apples to enhance and round out natural sourness. Finally, they age it in oak barrels for an earthy balance.
Wicked Weed Cider Bratwurst lends itself magnificently to grilling, stewing in a traditional arrangement with cabbage or kraut, boiling, or even baking. Yes, they emerge succulent and delish after ~25 minutes in a 350-degree oven. A 70/30 meat/fat blend means these sausage links can also stand up to high heat and still come out juicy and tender.
At the farm store, we like to bake them as described, and then slice and serve as samples with Lusty Monk mustard. This would make a great appetizer at your home BBQ! Try this hearty supper on a fall camping trip, or dress your brats up a bit with this contemporary take on a classic meat-and-potatoes pile.
Each pack contains four 4oz brats (1-1.3lb total) and is cryovac-packed and frozen. Keep them frozen for up to six months or thaw and enjoy immediately!
As always, we make Wicked Weed Cider Bratwurst from our 100% antibiotic- and hormone-free, pasture-raised pork. We raise heritage breeds for tenderness, flavor, and fat content; and we let pigs be pigs! They forage for grubs and saplings on our forest pastures and have free-choice access to grain, which helps them meet their nutritional needs.
